FAQs
What is the cost of therapy?
The first session (FREE) is a thirty minute meet and greet. This session is dedicated to determining if and how Cynthia can help you, and to take care of forms and protocols.
Individual therapy is $200 an hour. Group therapy is $60 an hour per individual. Individual EMDR therapy is $200 per hour.
We can discuss alternative payment options (sliding sale) for individuals without an insurance plan.
Therapy is GST exempt. The Psychologists’ Association of Alberta has the recommended fee list on their website.
Does your agency take insurance?
Cynthia is a Registered Psychologist, therefore, she accepts almost all insurance companies for the cost of therapy, including Indigenous Services Canada Non-Insured Health Benefits, and most can be direct billed. The client pays the difference between Cynthia’s fee and the allowable portion paid by their insurance company, if any, due on the day of session.
Do you work with all ages?
Yes, Cynthia works with clients across the lifespan.
How does confidentiality work?
Just about everything shared in session is kept in strictest confidence as Cynthia’s ethical code and professional conduct demands it. In some cases, information must be reported to an appropriate authority. These exceptions to confidentiality are:
The client is in danger of hurting themselves or someone else.
A minor child or dependent adult is abused or is under threat of abuse.
A client’s records are subpoenaed by a court of law (I must respond).
How long do I need to see the therapist?
There is no set limit for the number of sessions. That is dependent on the client and their needs. This will be discussed during the initial session.
